The Cons of Golfing

Golf is expensive, so expensive that it can almost always guarantee a trip to the loans office after the game is through. This is one of the most negative aspects of the game. Despite tricks and tools to help bring the cost down, the remarkably high cost of the equipment you need to play a basic round is quite astronomical and the rights to play on the course (something called green fees) are also hugely expensive. There is a plethora of other variables in the game of golf to consider as well, including food and walking fees. All of these fees and these charges add up to great news for the course owner and bad news for the poor golfer driven to the welfare line for playing a hole or two of their favorite sport.

Golf is not an easy sport to teach a child. In order to teach your son or daughter to golf, you will need to invest considerable amounts of money, time, and energy just to get your child on the golf course! You have to pay the greens fee, buy or rent the equipment, and pay for lessons, all before your little golfer decides whether or not he likes the game. And, in order to be exceptionally good at golf, potential pros really should start as children. Unlike other sports like basketball and football, a group of kids cannot start a pick up game of golf in the back yard. If a kid is going to learn to play golf, it will take a level of commitment and dedication that most kids are not ready for.

Despite all of this, there is nothing that can be done to fully eradicate the poor fiscal influence that is the game of golf. Tiger Woods and other "pro rich" proponents are there to fuel the green blazing fires of golf-related commerce and will continue to do so as long as their pockets are lined by the PGA and other golfing organizations. Much like other swindlers, the PGA will ensure that their drug of choice (golf) will be around for a long time to satisfy the expensive urges of its players. The right thing to do, apparently, is to pick up a club and go with the flow.
